As far as my biggest achievement in acting, that would be working on AMC’s Preacher with Seth Rogen and Dominic Cooper. Even though my scenes were ultimately cut from the episode, working with such a fantastic cast and crew was an amazing experience, and I feel fortunate to have had that opportunity. 3. Besides acting, what are you passionate about? I love dogs, baking, writing, Harry Potter and Stranger Things. 4. How do you prepare for a role? When auditioning, I’m really organic and just try to be myself. When I’m on set I try to remember any little quirks I might have added to the script in the audition room. 5. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself? I’m 14 years old and in the 8th grade. I have 2 brothers, 1 sister and a black lab named Humphrey. I love dogs! My favorite foods are garlic bread and Oreos. I’m obsessed with Stranger Things! 6. Why and when did you decide to start you acting career? I started theater when I was 9. I really enjoyed it, and I decided that I wanted to start taking acting classes for TV and film. My mom and I started travelling back and forth to LA for auditions, and I’ve been in love with it ever since. 7. If you could travel the world with anyone whom would you take? I would take my best friend Emma. She moved to a different state than me 2 years ago, and we’ve always kept in touch. I would love to spend time travelling with her. 8. Please tell us what do you feel is the biggest challenge in your acting career? At this point, the biggest challenge I face in acting is that some people don’t understand what I do. There can be a lot of judgment. When other kids talk about me behind my back, it hurts and frustrates me. I try not to let it bother me, but sometimes it’s hard. 9. So many young actresses are committed to public service, setting a great example for their peers in terms of being involved with charities and the community. What causes are important to you, and what do you do to support them? I’m an Ambassador and Junior Advisory Board Member for The Shoe Crew, which is a non-profit company that raises money and collect new shoes for disadvantaged youth and their families. I’m so excited and honored to be a part of this organization. I’ll be planning fundraiser called the Sneaker Ball in 2017 to raise money for The Shoe Crew. I also volunteer for Together We Rise, which is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of kids in foster care. I help raise money to provide foster kids with duffle bags and comfort items so they don’t have to travel from foster home to foster home with their belongings in a trash bag. 10. As a teen actress, how do you strike the balance between schoolwork and your career? Schoolwork is very important. If I ever miss a day of school because of an audition or I’m on set, I have to make up my work. I have amazing teachers who are really understanding of what I do. Sometimes its exhausting, but its totally worth it! 11. If you were not a teen actress, what would you be up to now? I stopped doing sports when I began acting because I didn’t really have time for them, so if I weren’t acting, I would probably be playing sports. I also think that my social life would be different, and I would have different friends. I’ve met a lot of really great friends through acting. 12. If you have the chance to choose any other stars at your age to be your classmate, whom would you like to? Definitely the cast of Stranger Things – 100%! 13. Have you ever taken acting classes before? And do you think acting classes are necessary for aspiring teen actors or actresses? Yes, I’ve been taking acting classes since I started acting. They are 100% necessary. Acting classes help you build a foundation for your acting and help you understand more about the craft and how to be disciplined in your work. 14. How can your fans interact with you online? And what’s your fan mail address? My Instagram and Twitter are great ways to contact me (@sarahkayjolly) or my email [email protected]. You can send fan mail to my manager at New Beginnings Entertainment, 18017 Chatsworth Street, #404, Granada Hills, CA 91344 15. Please tell us about your role in the upcoming film, “Bokendan: Quest for the Phoenix Sword” I play Cameron Murphy, a high achieving student who is an outcast because of her extreme intelligence. Despite being and outcast in school, Cameron maintains a positive attitude and believes that everyone should be accepted for who they are. Although Cameron is humble, she is a natural leader and steps up whenever the stakes are high. OR 15a. Please tell us about your role in the upcoming film “Forget Me Not” I play Kate, the older sister that tries to keep her broken and dysfunctional family together, despite all of the obstacles she faces in being raised by an alcoholic parent. Kate is a fixer and tries to be the glue that holds the family together. 16. Now for my last question: what do you want to say to those who wish to pursue their careers in Hollywood? Never give up! Other people can be judgmental. You may have to deal with some issues that other kids might not have to deal with. You might lose friends who don’t understand your lifestyle, but if acting is what you are truly passionate about, then none of that will matter. Pursue your dreams and don’t let anyone stop you!
